The god of Rock’n’Roll

June 12, 2017

The creator and father of Rock’nRoll Mr Chuck Berry is without a doubt a god in music heaven. Without him, there would be no Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, The Beach Boys or even The Rolling Stones.

Charles Edward Anderson Berry was born in 1926 on the 18th of October and is known as the pioneer of Rock’nRoll. A true artist in every sense of the word, he was a singer, songwriter, guitarist and even a photographer at one point in time.

Having been known to be quite the troublemaker in his youth, he was once arrested for robbery in his teens, and in 1959 for being in a relationship with a 14-year-old-girl. In the face of all the trouble he dodged, he became a prominent figure in the world’s music history. Despite having written numerous classics, he has only had one No 1 hit- “My Ding-a-Ling” according to Rock 95 and Billboard. Recorded live at Fillmore Auditorium in 1972, many radio stations would not play it as it was (and still is) too risqué.

His song “Johnny B. Goode” is currently one of the songs that are in space, on the  “Golden Record” attached to the Voyager 1 spacecraft.

The “Golden Record” that was launched into space in 1977 on the Voyager 1 spacecraft, was the first man-made item to reach interstellar space in 2012.

Well, we for one are glad to know that if there should be life out there- they will be rocking out to the true King of Rock’nRoll.

May his soul rest in peace.
