Comfort fabric softener hacks

February 22, 2021

The first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of Comfort fabric softener is the laundry. Whether adding it to the washer, washing dish or rubbing it on your clothes to get the static out Comfort fabric softener is synonymous with your freshly washed clothes. Rightfully so seeing how well it cares for your clothes.

Thankfully, there are other uses for fabric softener that you could put into practical use that does not entail clothes. These range from removing tough stains to keeping your home smelling fresh.

Here are my top 5 uses for a fabric softener that has nothing to do with clothes:

Remove soap scum

The greatest bane for most shower owners is hard water. It can quickly turn into soap scum when it reacts with the minerals from your soap. When it goes unattended, it can build up to be very unsightly.

A great way to get rid of soap scum is to apply a fabric softener, such as Comfort, directly on the scum and let it sit for 10min before wiping it away. It also works on taps and toilet boils and is a great alliterative to toxic shower cleaners.

Stop static

Are your carpets turning you into an electrocutioner that nobody and nothing is safe from? Don’t fret – Comfort is here to help. Not only does it get rid of the static on your clothes, but it is as effective on carpets. Simply mix one part fabric softener to two-and-a-half parts of water in a spray bottle and lightly spritz all your carpets and any bedding that is susceptible to getting static.

Freshen up your space

One of the most appreciated attributes of fabric softener is their fresh smell. Besides your clothes, you can spread the freshness throughout your home and car.

To remove or conceal any unpleasant smells that might be lingering around or simply to revitalise your space, mix one-part Comfort fabric softener with two parts water and mix in a spray bottle. Spray in a well-ventilated room. Should it be too strong of a scent, add an additional one part water or to your preference.

To deodorise even further, add one teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda to the above mixture to further neutralize unpalatable odours.

Comfort

Clean scorched pans

Burnt pots, pans and casserole dishes got you down? No need to despair – Comfort is here to care! Instead of scrubbing to an inch of your life and risk damaging your pots, try this fabric softener method.

Pour boiling water in the scorched pot/pan/casserole dish – just enough to cover the burnt part. Then add two teaspoons of Comfort fabric softener and stir. Allow the pot to soak overnight and wash it the next day. The remnants should be able to wash off easily.

Insect repellent

Most pesky bugs that plague the household don’t take well to strong scents. One of these scents is lavender. The scent of which calms the nerves and reduces stress acts as a bug repellent.

Use undiluted Comfort in lavender to rid your home of bed bugs, ants, etc. Spray the concentrated mixture on the insects and at their source.

A great addition to your detergents, Comfort fabric softener can be used as a great hack to make your life extra fresh. It does much more and goes beyond preserving your clothes and making them look, smell and feel fresh.
