The freshest music and youth culture festival, Cotton Fest, will be making its debut in Durban this year. Set to take place at Kings Park Stadium on 2nd July 2023, it is known for having the hottest lineup in an electric atmosphere.
The festival, which started in Joburg in 2019 by the late global music and fashion icon Riky Rick, has become one of the most anticipated events on the South African entertainment calendar. It’s also a celebration of South African street culture, with good music and showcases fashion, popular sports, art, food, and so much more.
Performing across two stages, the lineup features some of the hottest talents in SA. Being kept under wraps for now, the team is promising that fans will be satisfied as with the Joburg and Cape Town editions.
“Durban has always been a city that openly embraces and supports music and youth culture. And we are thrilled to finally bring Cotton Fest home finally. Taking Cotton Fest to Durban, Riky’s birthplace, which was always part of his plan, is particularly special to the whole team,” said festival co-founder Bianca Naidoo, “and as always, we plan to bring together some of the biggest names from across the country to not only create an unforgettable experience for the Durban family but also celebrate how precious life is.”
The COTTON STAGE will feature headline artists, while the second STAGE will feature the New Wave of young talent.
The merchandise area will offer Cotton Fest classics and collabs from proudly South African brands and local creative collaborators. There will be unique pieces, limited branded fashion items and many sought-after accessories.
A skating ramp and obscure games arena will be available for all sports enthusiasts.
Your taste buds won’t miss a beat as the food court will be fully stocked with all your faves. Bars will also be positioned around the festival.
Uniformed and undercover security will be present at the festival as an active deterrent for possible criminal activity. There will also be a vigilant and fast alert response in the event of any incidents.
For content creation, various photo opportunities, activation spaces, charging stations, and unique bespoke experiences will be available. Some chill areas will also be set up for festivalgoers to relax, recharge and reboot before returning to the dance floor!
