FonCity Sun City Takeover 2026 Sells Out Within an Hour
A Four-Day Cultural Takeover at Sun City Resort
Sold out within the hour of tickets going on sale, the FonCity Homecoming Sun City Takeover is more than just a vibe and a full-on cultural movement. What started out as 500 people back in 2020, this year, from 6 to 9 November 2026, will see 3,500 people descend on Sun City for a four-day takeover that feels less like a festival and more like a reunion for South Africa’s aspirational youth.

FonCity is Redefining Luxury Through Culture and Access
In a powerhouse partnership with GalxBoy and Sun City Resort, FonCity is doing something radical: they are opening doors to premium spaces that many young people previously felt were out of reach. By reframing luxury as something culturally inclusive, they aren’t just throwing parties but also building a future that includes talks of a permanent FonCity hotel and a GalxBoy store right on the resort grounds.
This is more than just growth – it’s a response to a community that has continuously
shown up for us and demanded more.
Athabile Ngxamngxa, Managing
Director of Homecoming Events

The 2026 journey is curated to be holistic, taking you from the greens to the dance floor. It kicks off on Friday, 6 November, with a first-of-its-kind Golf Day at the prestigious Lost City Golf Course.
Saturday brings back the moment everyone can’t waits for: the Valley of Waves Beach Party. Imagine the iconic wave pool transformed into an Afro-Tech playground. It’s set to be one of the biggest inland beach parties South Africa has ever seen. As night falls, the energy shifts to the All-White Party, where the fashion is set to be as loud as the music.
Sunday builds toward the spectacular finale: the TshwaneFontein Sun City Edition at Sun Park. It’s the heartbeat of the weekend as a fusion of music and community that only Homecoming can deliver. And for those who aren’t quite ready to say goodbye, Monday offers a soulful, intimate send-off with “Majita Monday” at the Sun City Shebeen to unwind and reconnect.
What makes this event different is the refusal to play the exclusivity game. While other events may take pride in how many people aren’t able to attend, FonCity is building a bigger table. Oratile Sangweni, Events and Executions Director, puts it simply: “We would rather build to accommodate you than leave you out.” This year’s expansion to include 1,500 additional guests is proof of that ethos. They are doubling down on infrastructure to ensure that safety and scale go hand-in-hand.
A High-Energy Audience Driving Lifestyle Tourism
The crowd is a high-energy mix of young professionals, aged 23 to 45, who see travel and fashion as part of their identity. With packages ranging from R13,500 to R30,000, it’s a high-value community that Sun City is eager to welcome.
Sun City Resort is proud to continue its partnership with Homecoming Events on the Sun City Takeover – an experience that perfectly aligns with our vision of positioning the resort as a leading lifestyle and entertainment destination in Africa
Brett
Hoppe, Sun City Resort General Manager

Ultimately, the magic of the Takeover lies in ownership. It’s in the way an artist, guest and crew feel like stakeholders and that they belong. It’s a collective effort to prove that African excellence isn’t just a buzzword, it’s the standard.
While the Sold Out signs went up almost instantly, the movement is only just beginning. Keep an eye on howler.co.za for any last-minute returns, but more importantly, start planning for the future.
