The Red Bull Music Festival promises to raise the bar for the 2018 festival calendar with an exhilarating musical experience taking place from the 3rd to 8th of April 2018 in Johannesburg. Trompies, Oskido, 340 Million, Moozlie and Distruction Boyz are among those confirmed to perform at this exciting musical experience taking place in Johannesburg.

Following the hugely successful Red Bull Music Academy Weekender and Red Bull Culture Clash events in 2016 and 2017 respectively, the flagship Red Bull Music Festival (RBMF) event will boast a blockbuster contingent of eighty local, pan-African and global acts set to take over Johannesburg for six days. The festival will feature an array of music genres, which play a pivotal role in shaping the SA music landscape. Everyone from upcoming jazz soul sensation Langa Mavuso to the West Coast hip hop inspired electro DJ, Egyptian Lover, Durban King and Red Bull Culture Clash winner DJ Tira to the reggae duo Admiral and Jahseed will take be taking the stage at the festival.

The Red Bull Music Festival will not only celebrate our rich music history but also the art, fashion and events that have spurred the evolution of urban culture over the past two decades. A light will be shone onto the musical pioneers and unsung heroes behind the music which now inspire our new artists such as Moonchild Sannelly and Stiff Pap who will all be performing at the festival. The multi-venue event will fall onto urban dancefloors that hold an immortal place in SA’s musical history, including visits to genre-defining neighborhoods and communities in Braamfontein, Soweto and Newtown.
On the fourth of April we celebrate jazz music at The Orbit with a jam session that will create a once off experience for those who attend. The night finishes off with a round robin vinyl session with DJ Okapi and Zara Julius.
After a night of jazz, Admiral and Jahseed, African Storm Sound System leaders from Red Bull Culture Clash put on a reggae show at Newtown Music Factory with Maad Mugo on the fifth of April.

Republic of 94 will be the home of the festival’s kwaito night on the sixth of April. Attendees will start the night with Oskido and DJ Tira and end with new artists who take their influences from our kwaito kings. Old school Kwaito will be the dress code of the night.
Tha Cutt, Sean Munnick, ANG, Audioboyz, The Hacker, Zolabudde′, Grant VR will all play at AND, Great Dane and Kitcheners, clubs and bars that are very well known amongst South Africa’s youth.
Saturday sees the likes of up and coming Namibian triple threat Gina Jeanz, Dwson and Stingray perform alongside 340 Million who will revive their 340ml music catalogue.
The 2018 Red Bull Music Festival also serves as a celebration of the 20 years of the Red Bull Music Academy globally. The Academy is a world-traveling series of music workshops and festivals around the world.
The festival has been held in various cities including Los Angeles, New York City and Paris and espouses the values of the RBMA: to create, collaborate and celebrate the SA music scene.
