Strike a POSE for Austin Malema

March 9, 2020

Saturdays are best spent with good company, a fresh drink and some laid back music. This was the vibe at Dassler’s in Braamfontein at a casual Photobooth Party hosted by Lebo Mashigo. You may think this party is as its name suggests – a photo-booth. While you may be right, there is a blue-coloured background wall where anyone gets to have their picture snapped. How often do you get your picture taken by Austin Malema? The photographer behind some of your favourite celebrity pictures.

This Saturday, Joburg socialites came with their plus ones in this intimate and vibey surrounding. As you enter, you are greeted and welcomed with the friendliest smile from Austin Malema. Without wasting time, the host shows you the bar where you get a complimentary welcome-drink, Red Bull, to get that adrenaline flowing.

While others were enjoying the vibe of this social gathering, others were striking poses with Austin Malema, who was taking individual and group pictures with a Fujifilm instant camera, Instax. Instax has a similar size printer which gets your picture printed in a small square portrait as you wait. Austin signs the picture, you get to take it home and, even better, share it with your friends on social media under the #Instaxsa hashtag.

Half the crowd walked in with amateur poses and left feeling like younger versions of Daphne Selfe because Austin is that much of a good coach.

The music was a bit of a let down at first, but the performances booked eventually pulled through with a mix of different genres. From Jazz Fusion to Amapiano they put on quite a show, featuring performances by Kat Upendi.

And, of course, your sneakers couldn’t be seen on an Austin picture with stains. Sneaker Lab was there with their shoe care products, sneaker cleaners and sneaker protectors, among other products, to make sure your kicks were ready for the spotlight.

The energy was good, the music was great and everyone that was there got the Austin Malema picture they deserve.
