Very few things in life bring joy as much as a wine festival, and the TOPS at SPAR Wine Show did not disappoint. Having kicked off in Durban on the 9th of May 2019, the TOPS at SPAR Wine Show made its stop at Montecasino, Johannesburg on the 6th of June and had its last show on the 8th of June. Joburgers were treated to an array of delicious lush wines that left all of us feeling like connoisseurs of the nectar of the gods.
This year sees the TOPS at SPAR Wine Show celebrate 13-years since its inception, and Joburgers came out by the truckloads surprising even the winemakers. This was evidence enough that the TOPS at SPAR Wine Show is definitely growing bigger and stronger by the year. With well over 100 exhibitors there especially for your pleasure, TOPS at SPAR Wine Show has it all for everyone under one marquee roof.
Wine lovers were free to walk around and take a sip (or two) from every stall there was. Alternatively, for an in-depth session, there was a Wine Theatre where you could learn about wine pairing, processes, and different kinds of grapes used.
If you are anything like me, you walk into every wine show thinking there is no way that you will buy a bottle of anything. Thus thinking you will settle for at least tasting the best of the best that not only the world has to offer, but what South Africa can offer. If you are anything like me, you walk out of the wine show at the end of the night feeling happier than ever, struggling to transport 4-6 bottles of wine back to the Uber pick-up point. This is no surprise of course as wines were being sold at the TOPS at SPAR Wine Show for as little as R50.

The TOPS at SPAR Wine Show opens at 17h00 and closes at 12h00 on Thursdays and Fridays, and 15h00 to 21h00 on Saturdays in every city except in PE at the Boardwalk where it will be open from 14h00 to 17h00 and again at 18h00 to 21h00.
