Alex FM has recently announce that they’ll continuing to accept donations for the benefit of Refilwe Legae Home orphanage in Alexandra. As they gear up for the Empowering Children Cook-off Battle on 21 March 2024 (Human Rights Day), they’re inviting you, businesses, and organizations to help contribute towards this worthy cause.
Refilwe Legae Home provides a safe and nurturing environment for children who have been orphaned or are in vulnerable situations. Alex FM’s ongoing efforts aim to support the orphanage in meeting the needs of the children and enhancing their quality of life.
How you can help
Any and all donations are welcome and will be greatly appreciated. Here are some suggested items that would make a meaningful difference:
- Non-perishable food items
- Toiletries and personal hygiene products
- Clothing and shoes (new or gently used)
- School supplies and educational materials
- Toys, books, and games
- Bedding and blankets
- Financial contributions to support ongoing operational expenses
Your contributions can be dropped off at Alex FM Studios during business hours. Alternatively, arrangements can be made for collection by contacting Karabo Masemola.
“We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from our community and partners,” said Takalane Nemangowe, Station Manager at Alex FM. “Your generosity will help us make a positive impact in the lives of the children at Refilwe Legae Home and ensure that they receive the care and resources they need.”
The Empowering Children Cook-off Battle serves as a platform to raise awareness and support for Refilwe Legae Home while promoting community engagement and collaboration. In this revised concept, three organizations/teams – namely Team Alex FM, Team TSB Foundation, and Team Mr & Miss Alex – will compete against each other. They’ll be showcasing their culinary skills and teamwork. Additionally, the event will feature live performances and a career guidance workshop, empowering young people with valuable information and opportunities for their future.
Makro/Massmart has also committed to a contribution through sponsorship, which’ll further bolstering our efforts to support Refilwe Legae Home.
For more information about how to donate or get involved, pleaseĀ email Takalane or Karabo Masemola.
