A radio jock from jump, DJ Supta continues to climb to greater heights. This year saw him win big at the DSTV Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards for Favourite Song Of The Year for Gugulethu.
Featured alongside Indlovukazi & Afro Brothers by Prince Kaybee for the chart-topping song, Siyabulela Sithole, best known as DJ Supta, is not new to the game. He first met Kabelo Motsamai – Prince Kaybee – after he had finished matric and was on his way to obtain a greater education at the University of Free State. Living in Bloemfontein, the two hit it off and were well on their way to making hits together. Winning the Favourite Song Of The Year award can attest to the chemistry that these two vibe to.
Dj Supta is exhilarated at obtaining the accolade and commented, “This for me is overwhelming and it still hasn’t sunk in, but I’m very excited and happy with the award and for this is the beginning of many from myself as a radio presenter, artist and DJ.”
Having started his career from the grass root levels at Takalani FM – a community station in his hometown of Eastern Cape, Aliwal North – he used this as a stepping stool in solidifying his dream. A dream not deferred but instead perused as he went on to join Motheo FM – a community radio station – in Free State where he was attending varsity. Naturally so, it took no time until he was proudly repping for Kovsie FM – campus and community radio station that is situated at the University of the Free State. And that is where YFM plucked him from.

Radio enthusiast, club DJ, music producer, MC, businessman and media personality, an inquisitive go-getter, DJ Supta currently mans The Plug on YFM – a weekend show that he broadcasts on Friday and Saturday evening. He has made such a success of the show that it has acquired the most listenership amongst all weekend programs.
Solidified within the South African music scene, I look forward to seeing what other mountains DJ Supta will climb. More so on how innovative he will be seeing how the way we live as humans on Earth has been altered. Well, for the time being at least.
