The Source Festival: Johannesburg Prelude—A Cinematic Afro-House Odyssey
A new chapter in African electronic music begins as The Source Festival unveils its first-ever preliminary event in Johannesburg — a bold, visionary night that merges sacred Afro-house rhythms with cinematic audio-visual storytelling. The event will take place on Friday, September 19th, 2025, at Sognage, Strydompark.
Set within an intimate, immersive environment, this one-night-only experience will feature two pioneering DJ sets by Atmos Blaq and Gumz, each accompanied by synchronized, cinematic visual narratives. Through this experience, Atmos Blaq will be debuting his alien alter ego, Bobverse. Da Africa Deep will be opening support. This marks a first-of-its-kind fusion in the global Afro-house scene, where sound and image move as one, telling stories rooted in spirit, culture, and futurism.
Why The The Source Festival Night Stands Apart
These are not performances. They are rituals in motion — sacred sonic journeys guided by rhythm, energy, and ancestral memory.
This offering stands apart from conventional nightlife. It is not a party—it is a pilgrimage. A moment of artistic innovation, spiritual elevation, and cultural reverence. Every element is carefully crafted to evoke mystery and transformation, where sound and image create a deeply immersive, otherworldly experience.
“We are returning to the essence of the music,” says the festival’s creative director. “Before the beat drops, before the crowd moves, there is a source. This event is about uncovering it through sound, image, and soul.”

The Johannesburg Prelude signals a landmark moment for Afro-house: not just as a genre, but as a movement reclaiming its roots and reimagining the future of African electronic expression.
