Singer/songwriter Yallunder, who is signed to 1020 Cartel, has released her first official solo project titled Uthando Lwam. In this six-track EP, Yallunder explores the themes of love and loss and uses her uniquely powerful voice to guide the listener through a journey of these strong emotions.
In Uthando Lwam, Yallunder features label-mates Sjava (Don’t love me) and Nue_Sam (Iphutha), as well as vocalist Inno Motong (Ndavuya). The track Uthando Lwam is a robust indictment on the power of love that transcends time and space. 1020 Cartel, which is founded by Jabulani “Sjava” Makhubo and Ruff Nkosi, first introduced Yallunder to the world in the recently released genre-bending album named iSambulo. In this album, she had the stirring single Ndinovalo, as well as collaborations with her label-mates on the songs Abanjani and Inhliziyo.
Real name Yolanda Nyembezi, Yallunder is a classically trained vocalist – cum laude in vocal pedagogy. She has shared the stage with artists such as Monique Bingham and Thandiswa Mazwai and on Black Coffee’s Music is King. She has also been featured on two tracks in the recently released “Aura” by Lemon & Herb.
The quality of Yallunder’s voice and music is undeniable. It is without a doubt that a star has been born! Uthando Lwam is available on all leading digital platforms.
