As a kick-off to the eagerly awaited Miss Soweto Pageant 2021, White Star hosted a meet-and-greet on Tuesday, October 26th 2021. Held at the Cooking Kitchen in Parkwood, the media got a chance to meet the top 20 enthusiastic beauties, who welcomed them with open arms. The ladies got the chance to discuss all things pageant as they gave a detailed breakdown of what kind of mental and physical preparation was needed to take part in the competition. They also spoke about their background, education, family, home life, and ultimately what they would do upon winning the coveted Miss Soweto 2021 title.
The finalists expressed how they hope to harness the promotion and enablement of:
- Active citizenry
- Patriotism
- Pride and community work in the Soweto
The evening ended with group pictures on the red carpet and around the beautiful garden backdrop of the venue.
Twenty eager finalists will take to the stage of the Soweto Theatre on 27 November to compete for the coveted titles of #MissSoweto2021. First Princess, Second Princess, Miss Personality, Miss Photogenic and People’s Choice Award will be the titles up for grabs.
The worthy 20 finalists are currently going through a series of workshops to enhance their:
- Business acumen
- Social media etiquette
- Social responsibility
- Diversity & inclusion
- Fashion & beauty
They will also receive training in the finer points of etiquette and professionalism. It’s a treat of a lifetime for the participants and, for many, a life-changing experience.
The reigning Miss Soweto, Thobile Steyn, says the pageant was an important turning point in her life and has set her on the path to becoming everything she can be.
“Winning the Miss Soweto title has changed the course of my life,” she says. “The platform has allowed me to interact with incredible people from all walks of life.
