The Joburg Film Festival, powered by Multichoice, is set to take place in the heart of Johannesburg from January 31st to February 5th, 2023. The festival will showcase some of the finest films from over 35 countries across the globe, including 20 African premieres and 27 South African premieres. The opening film, XALE, directed by Moussa Sene Absa, is a masterpiece that immerses the viewer into a storyline of family values, love, life, and betrayal.
The festival will feature films from a diverse range of countries, with a mix of feature films and documentaries showcasing stories that cross cultural boundaries. These countries will including:
- South Africa
- Tunisia
- Brazil
- Seoul
- USA
- Japan
- Morocco

Joburg Film Festival partners with Brand South Africa
Brand South Africa has also teamed up with the Joburg Film Festival to highlight the contribution of the Arts, Culture, and Creative Industries in positively strengthening the Nation’s Brand.
