Gold Reef City, SA’s most loved local entertainment spot, in association with CANSA, will be hosting Shavathons from 09h00 to 17h00 on Friday, 6 March at the Gold Reef City Casino, main entrance and on Saturday, 7 March from 09h30 to 17h00 at Gold Reef City Theme Park, Town Square. Save the dates and let us all beat 2019’s R60 000 donation! All donations will go towards CANSA’s care and support programmes for patients, caregivers and loved ones.
This year’s Shavathon theme is Hope 2020. Appropriately named as participants will be giving ‘Hope’ to cancer patients, survivors and their loved ones. This will be done by showing solidarity in the fight against cancer as participants will stencil, spray or shave their hair. Adults will need to donate R50 to this worthy cause, while children under 12 just need to make a donation of R25 to get in on the Shavathon action.

CANSA provides a unique, integrated service to all people affected by cancer. This non-profit organisation enables:
- Research on the lowering of cancer risk
- Educating the public regarding symptoms
- Screening and risk reduction
- Providing care and support to all people affected by cancer
Its advocacy team performs a watchdog role to oversee South African policymakers and influence important cancer control issues. They also strive to protect the patients’ right to healthcare.
Please do come through and invite all your friends and family! Let’s make a notable difference in 2020!
