Exploring Spring Creativity with Bombay Sapphire in Maboneng
Spring has sprung, and there is no better way to enjoy the sun’s rays than to dive into your creativity. This weekend saw us unleash our creativity and be submerged in some incredible art as we celebrated the craft and Artistry of cocktails with Bombay Sapphire.
Greeted with a refreshing Bombay Sapphire Gin Spritz at the Artistry, we brunched before heading out to the vibrant streets of Maboneng. Equipped with a Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 Instant Film Camera, the order of the day was to capture all the street art that simply stirs your creativity.
Always ready and happy to tour the city that I love, the Maboneng Street Art Tour is one for the books, and I implore you to embark on it. Led by Tebogo from the Maboneng Street Art Tour, we started strong at Arts on Main and made our way through the Place of Lights.
The Maboneng Street Art Tour
The Joburg art district did not disappoint. Energised by the street vendors that are also made up of local artists, the streets were drenched in graffiti, murals, clothes, jewellery, street artists and musicians. A hub for creativity, we captured the vibrant frequency of the city on our Polaroids.
The tour lasted approximately an hour. It took us up Fox Street, into Aurat and Betty Street, where we also got to visit Angoni Art and Moad Gallery. The tour We saw and captured some world-class street art by the likes of:
- Snowchino
- Black Mabutho
- Sebastian
- Sweet Potatoes
- Dbongz
- Senzo
- Karabo Poppy
- Dekor One
The hour flew by, but the spirit of the city remained within us as we made our way back to the Artistry. There, the cocktails flowed, and a gin tasting awaited.
Exclusive sneak peak into the Bombay Sapphire Premier Cru Murcian Lemon
Hosted by BOMBAY SAPPHIRE’s global Master Distiller, Dr Anne Brock, she is responsible for every drop of gin that goes in it. On this day, we had the pleasure of being some of the first people to taste the new Bombay Sapphire Premier Cru Murcian Lemon exclusively. A sneak preview into what will soon hit the shelves, the gin is made to celebrate lemon farmers. In addition to the extra added lemon, Bombay Sapphire has also brightened up the clear spirit with sweet orange and mandarin from Murcia – a region in Spain that is fondly referred to as Europe’s orchard.
Proud of their sustainably grown lemons, the Bombay Sapphire Premier Cru Murcian Lemon is, without a doubt, an ode to the citrus fruit. On every bottle of the small batch of gin, you’ll find the exact coordinates that will place you right where they harvest the fresh flavour.
Afterwards, a Mediterranean feast awaited that complemented our Bombay Cocktails beautifully. Fully immersed and our creativity released, we capped the day with self-made cocktails inspired by our Maboneng Street Art Tour. Mine was a beautiful, berry-based cocktail mixed with grapefruit and topped with just a touch of dry lemon.
It was a treat and the perfect sundowner as I toasted to my #SawThisMadeThis creation because one cannot help but #StirCreativity with Bombay Sapphire.
